The one question I get a lot from many of my customers, is how to minimize single strand knots? There is not an exact science for that yet. However; I am going to give you 3 tips to help minimize your battle with those pesky little knots. Leave your comments below if you have any other methods or suggestions on dealing with the not so cute Fairy Knots. Until the next time Product Junkies.

  1. Deep condition hair on a weekly basis.  One of the reasons we get single strand knots is due to our hair being dry. Hair that is dry tends to wrap around each other, instead of moving past each other.
  2. Use a water based moisturizer on hair daily or when needed. All hair is not the same. Your hair knows when it needs moisture. Some naturals may only need to apply moisturizers after washing, and be good for days. That is not the case with everyone.
  3. Trim you hair when it needs to be trimmed. There are many indicators that your hair may need to be trimmed. Single Strand Knots aka Fairy Knots is one.

What methods have you used to help decrease your Fairy Knots?

You are absolutely correct. I have found that dryness is the culprit. What works is a dab of castor oil to lubricate it and the knot slips right out
